Regarding to the high requirements of the surface quality in production, optical inspection is the most general way to detect the surface quality by measuring the roughness, micro-profile and other related parameters.

However, not every workpiece is able to detected by normal optical profilometer. Recently, we got a customer's call for help,and this customer is from auto parts industry. Auto parts size can reach hundreds of millimeters and also the weight can reach hundreds of kilograms.

 

Conventional optical profilometer(white light interferometer) is not capable for this size, but the cost would be extremely high if to customize a big size profilometer. 

How to detect the surface quality of this kind of workpiece?

After inspected this manufacturer’s factory environment, Chotest team found an abandoned CMM and finished the air-floating vibration isolation transformation.

And now is the most important part, to add WX-100 probe on this transformed machine.

WX-100 Probe, integrated the white light interference probe, which is the most essential part of the white light interferometer. It maintains the excellent 0.1nm resolution capability of the standard model. Besides the scanning function of the traditional white light interference probe, it also has the following additional functions:

  • Electric lens tilt adjustment

Different from the traditional white light interference probe with precision scanning module and optical interference system, WX-100 transplants the tilt adjustment device from the XY stage to the probe, giving the lens the ability to adjust the spatial angle such as yaw and pitch, suitable for many applications. Just configure the basic air-floating support platform for the probe, you would have a high-precision white light interferometer with complete measurement functions.

  • Opensource software module, able to intergrated to other software for secondary development
